Married an American soldier, William Walker, stationed at one of the Marine Corps Bases.
Son is 23 (and a father to a 2 month old baby girl); daughter is 20 (and in college).

The family moved from Japan to San Diego, California, when the children were little, so they have grown up to be more American than Japanese.

Ayumi won't mind that some of her American friends call her Amy.

Her husband is now retired from the army. The children have left home so she experiences a bit of an empty-nest syndrome.
